Empathize

Initial Vision & Research

- Project Vision: Develop a simple and efficient user flow for reserving bikes based on dates, bike types, and quantities.
- Home Page Research: Conducted research later in the project to understand industry trends and common practices in the vacation and biking sectors.

Key Research Insights

- Hero Section: Should convey the purpose clearly.
- CTA: Essential to initiate the user journey.
- Trust-Building Elements: Include partners and brands.
- Additional Information: Local activities and restaurants to enhance user experience.

Define

Problem Statement

- Challenge: Design an intuitive and efficient online reservation system that allows users to book bikes based on their vacation plans.
- Objectives:
          - Create a straightforward user flow for selecting bike types, dates, quantities, and payment.
          - Incorporate trust-building elements and useful local information on the Home page.
          - Optimize the process based on user feedback to enhance usability.

Ideate

Concept Development

- Wireframes:
          - Home Page: Included a hero section with a clear message, a CTA to start the booking process, and information about partners and local activities.
          - Reservation Flow: Users could select pick-up and return dates, bike types, and quantities, followed by a summary and payment confirmation.

Prototype

Lo-Fi Prototype

- Usability Testing:
          - Identified issues with unnecessary confirmation steps that added complexity to the user flow.
          - Users found additional confirmation pages inconvenient and unnecessary.

Iterations

- First Iteration: Removed the extra confirmation page to streamline the process.
- Second Iteration: Simplified the flow by eliminating redundant steps, making the booking process more direct and user-friendly.

Hi-Fi Prototype

- Finalized the designs with improvements based on user feedback.
- Created a mobile version of the app to ensure a seamless experience across devices.

Test

Usability Testing Results

- Feedback:
          - Removal of the extra confirmation step improved the user experience.
         - Initial addition of the confirmation page was found to be unnecessary by users.
          - Noted the need for a larger sample size for more accurate feedback.

Reflect

Experience & Growth

- Skills Developed: Enhanced ability to create user flows, conduct research, and refine designs based on feedback.
- Project Learnings: Effective research led to a Home page design that aligned well with industry standards. The iterative design process highlighted the importance of balancing user feedback with design decisions.

Future Improvements

- Sample Size: Increase the sample size in usability studies to ensure more representative feedback.
- Further Refinements: Consider additional user testing to validate design choices and potentially refine features based on broader feedback.
