Project Overview

Plenty is a website designed to connect gardeners with food banks, shelters, and other food distribution systems. The goal is to help facilitate donations of excess vegetables to combat food insecurity in local communities. The project was a final assignment for the Google UX Design Certificate, aiming to create a social good website.

Research & Insights

- Research Focus: Examined non-profits and organizations promoting social good to understand how their UX conveyed their missions.
- Key Findings:
          - Mission, Vision, and Values: Prominently displayed to build trust and alignment.
          - Impact Metrics & Testimonials: Used to demonstrate effectiveness and engage users.
          - Clear CTAs: Essential for driving user action and engagement.

Define

Problem Statement

- Challenge: Design a website that effectively connects gardeners with local food distribution systems and communicates the mission of combating food insecurity.
- Objectives:
          - Clearly present Plenty’s mission and impact.
          - Create an engaging and user-friendly platform for gardeners and food distribution centers.
          - Foster trust and encourage user participation through effective design and messaging.

Ideate

Concept Development

- Initial Wireframes:
          - Hero Section: Large image to highlight Plenty’s mission with prominent CTAs.
          - Home Page: Sections on benefits of joining Plenty and impact metrics.
          - Support Pages: Details on ways to support Plenty’s mission and benefits.
          - Donation Pages: For gardeners to find local food distribution centers.

Prototype

Lo-Fi Prototype

- Usability Testing:
          - Identified typos and inconsistent terminology.
          - No significant issues with layout, information architecture, or features.

Hi-Fi Prototype

- Refinements:
          - Adjusted hero section to include impact metrics for trust-building.
          - Incorporated a soft color palette to create a compassionate tone.
          - Updated layouts for desktop and mobile, including consistent columns and CTA sections.

Test

Usability Testing Results

          - Found and corrected typos and terminology inconsistencies.
          - No major changes needed for layout or features.
          - Final adjustments included refining the “About Me” and “Contact Us” pages, and applying the same changes to mobile prototypes.

Reflect
